Free, in name and in fact.
LABA in Florence - Libera Accademia di Belle Arti is a young, dynamic and innovative academy with more than two decades of experience in artistic and creative education. Founded in 2001 by a group of members with a shared vision of art, LABA was created with the aim of combining tradition and innovation, combining the classical languages of art with digital technologies and new contemporary expressive tools.
Since its inception, the Academy has pursued a philosophy of interdisciplinary and inclusive, student-focused and practice-oriented teaching. Training at LABA is not limited to the acquisition of theoretical knowledge: each course is designed to stimulate experimentation, creativity and the ability to design in real-world contexts through workshops, hands-on activities and collaborative projects.
Professional Instructors
LABA faculty members are active and established professionals in their respective fields: designers, filmmakers, photographers, artists, stylists and creatives who work daily in the professional world. Thanks to them, students have the opportunity to learn concrete skills, continuous updates and innovative methodologies, confronting real experiences and developing a practical and contemporary vision of creativity.
Vision
LABA in Florence is distinguished by its clear and innovative vision, based on values such as originality, interdisciplinarity, technological innovation and stylistic quality. The Academy promotes a constant dialogue between international art systems and local realities, fostering an active and stimulating cultural exchange. At the center of everything is the student: the quality of teaching is measured by the ability to accompany each student on his or her creative and professional path, enhancing individual talent and offering concrete tools to emerge in the world of art and design.
Mission
LABA's mission is to offer high-level educational pathways, preparing students for contemporary challenges in Italy and abroad. The Academy constantly updates programs, integrates practical activities and internships, and promotes collaborations with leading Made in Italy companies in the fields of design, fashion, art, graphic design and photography. Students can thus confront the professional world, carry out concrete projects and build a network useful for their careers, developing technical skills and a creative, critical and conscious approach.
History
LABA Florence was born as a rib of LABA Brescia and, over time, acquired its own autonomous identity, distinguishing itself by its dynamism, interdisciplinarity and practical approach. Since 2016/2017 it has officially been an autonomous seat and authorized by the MUR to grant legally recognized academic degrees that are equivalent to three-year and master's degrees (3+2). Today, it offers three-year and two-year specialized courses in Design, Graphic Design, Photography, Directing and Videomaking, Painting, Fashion Design, Interior Design, and Cinema and Audiovisual, preparing students to continue their studies or to competently enter the professional world.
